Figure of Jesus Christ Swiebodzin

It is worth spending half an hour traveling to Świebodzin to see one of the tallest statues of Jesus Christ in the world. The 36-meter-long monument, which stands on a 16-meter artificial mound, is undoubtedly impressive, especially as it is located in Świebodzin, which has a population of just over 20,000. The figure of Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, made this town famous throughout Poland, so it is even more worth checking what this monument looks like – the perpetrator of all the confusion.

The statue was built in 2010, and the initiator of the project was the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Świebodzin. The inspiration for the creation of this monument was the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, then the largest structure of this type in the world. Currently, it is the Polish monument that is the tallest in terms of the height of the statue of Jesus – it is 36 meters high, has an arm span of 24 meters, and weighs approximately 440 tons. A year later, from the monument in Świebodzin, a 37-meter-high statue of Jesus Christ in Peru was erected, but the height of the statue is 22 meters, and the pedestal is 15 meters.

The erection of the statue was a gigantic undertaking in many respects: engineering, construction, finance and design. It is located on the outskirts of Świebodzin, on the southern side of the city. It is rather impossible to miss it due to its huge dimensions. Admission to the area is free, you can walk almost to the very base of the monument. There is a gift shop and a food court on site.

On the occasion of a trip to the statue of Jesus Christ, it is also worth visiting the center of Świebodzin, where there are quite a few monuments.
